Our History

In 1995 a group of Catholic parents, educators and lay leaders, in an effort to serve the Church, the diocese and the community, founded Vineyard Academy as a private, independent elementary school in Richland, Michigan. This far-sighted community recognized the need for a unique center of learning and spiritual growth, and with the help of the National Consultants for Education, committed themselves to forming young souls to become true lights and moral leaders of the world.

Vineyard set a standard of academic excellence and spirituality. Our initial enrollment of eight students, kindergarten through 6th grade, was located in the home of one of the families. The following year, Vineyard purchased two portable classrooms and placed them on leased property. Adding four more temporary classrooms has allowed the academy to expand to the current pre-kindergarten through eighth grade program.

In the spring of 2003, Vineyard's Board of Directors purchased 37 acres of land for the development of a permanent campus. Working with architects and a local developer, Vineyard is close to completing the master plans for its permanent site which will ensure a quality facility to enhance studies and the spiritual growth of future students.

We began a full capital campaign in 2010 to begin building a permanent location. It is estimated that a million dollars is needed to break ground on phase one of the permanent site.
